Wormax.io is based on a tried-and-true idea: simple, thrilling multiplayer action. It’s heavily inspired by Slither.io, and there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, both games look very similar. But as we’ll see soon, Wormax.io is packed with a bunch of extra features. The concept of Wormax.io isn’t original, but it’s as good as it gets: eat or be eaten.

Wormax.io is loaded with Super Skills and Boosters. Although they come in many forms, these are essentially power-ups that can be used at any time. Acceleration, Stop, and Ghost are rechargeable abilities. Acceleration gives a brief speed boost. It’s the most commonly used Skill in the game, because it’s the best way to attack another player. Stop is a defensive ability, causing your worm to freeze for up to five seconds. Ghost makes your worm transparent, which means you can slither through other players without game-ending consequences.
Boosters appear randomly throughout the game. These include Toxic, Telescope, Mass Conservation, Magnet, and Health. Every Booster (other than Health) activates a special ability for one minute. Since every player wants every Booster, these pop-up power-ups enhance the competition.
Another fantastic feature of Wormax.io is the League system. After a brief registration process, players can track their progress alongside others. Instead of “leveling up,” more experienced players get to join higher-ranked leagues. An “Essence” bonus is awarded when entering a new league. Players can spend Essence on Artifacts (attribute enhancements) in the Shop. There’s an entire in-game economy that the best players take advantage of.

Wormax.io looks great, but unoriginal. Nearly every aspect of its GUI, from the title screen to the in-game layout, is based on Slither.io. So, we had to deduct a point in this category. Aside from looking like a clone, Wormax.io has bright colors, fun skins, and nice animations. All of the Boosters have unique icons and are very easy to see in the arena. The Shop is filled with similarly great graphics. After sharing a link on social media, players can enjoy dozens of colorful skins. These enhance the overall look of the game and ensure that no two players get mistaken for each other.
Gameplay: 3.5/5
Wormax.io is a new game, and it does have a few flaws. Big clusters of worms cause the gameplay to feel a bit glitchy at times. The collision detection isn’t perfect, which could be due to server lag or bugs that need to be fixed. Both of these issues can detract from the overall experience, especially when a glitch results in ending your game. During a few hours of playtime, I only experienced 2 punishing glitches. That wasn’t enough to stop me from playing, because Wormax.io is so much fun.

Wormax.io shows how many layers .io games can have. Even though the gameplay itself is simple, there are so many extra features included. Super Skills, Artifacts, and Leagues are just a few elements that you must try. With a couple of bug fixes, Wormax.io could become the best .io game ever made.
